In loving memory of Doris Ella Burnes

Doris Ella Burnes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2024, in Alexandria, VA. She was born on September 27, 1938, in Kentucky. Doris will always be remembered for her outgoing personality and infectious sense of humor.

During her career, Doris worked at Giant grocery store as a cashier and eventually retired after dedicating 30+ years to serving her community with kindness and a warm smile.

Doris is Proceeded in death by her daughter Peggy Wheeler and her father William Childers. She is survived by her children Janet (Don) Hanshaw, along with her granddaughters Natalie Hanshaw, Ashley Wheeler, and great-grandson Nicholas Hanshaw.

A burial service to honor and remember Doris Ella Burnes will be held on July 12, 2024, at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA. The burial will begin at 11:00 AM 

Doris will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
