Elizabeth Wilson Clark

Elizabeth Wilson Clark, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, graced this world with her presence from October 26, 1937, until her peaceful departure on November 23, 2024. Born in Abington, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth’s journey through life was marked by hard work, resilience and an unwavering spirit.

A devoted worker throughout her life, Elizabeth dedicated many years at Giant before retiring to embrace new chapters of joy and family. Her home was a sanctuary of cleanliness, where every corner sparkled, and the air was often filled with the serenade of her favorite old-school gospel hymns, echoing the spirit of her vibrant personality.

Though self-reserved and quiet, Elizabeth’s no-nonsense attitude meant that her love was straightforward and palpable. She possessed a unique ability to communicate her feelings openly, often shooting straight from the hip, ensuring those around her knew exactly where they stood. In her later days, she earned the affectionate nickname “Spicy” from her beloved nieces, Arin and Dana, a testament to the feisty spirit she retained until the very end, much to the amusement of the Hospice staff who lovingly noted her occasional spirited responses while under their care.

Education held a significant place in Elizabeth’s life; she proudly received her high school diploma and possessed a competitive athletic spirit, excelling in volleyball and softball during her school years. Beyond her academics, she became an expert in the art of strategic shopping, meticulously clipping coupons and planning her excursions to five different stores to maximize savings. Elizabeth approached shopping with the same fervor she applied to her hobbies, spending countless hours at the kitchen table compiling crossword puzzles, word searches, and sudoku, reflecting her sharp mind and love for challenges. Not mentioned often but always present was her love for the color red, which mirrored her vibrant energy.

Elizabeth's departure on that solemn day in November was in the embrace of her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy rich in memories, laughter, and unconditional love. She is survived by her dear family: Daughter in law Amy Wilson, her siblings Fannie Minor, Howard (Pearl) Wilson, Philip (Sylvia) Wilson, Charles (Gloria) Wilson, Delores (Donald) Howard, James (Mammie) Wilson, and Sallie (Farley) Wilson-Banks, as well as her loving grandchildren—Brian Wilson, Terrell Wilson, Cherrelle (Cory) Burgess, Jada Wilson, Barrin (Tasha) Howard, Corey Howard, and Donald (Alexis) Ferguson.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Lilton Clark; her son, Terry Wilson; her mother, Rosie Ann Wilson; and her father, Mitchell Wilson IV, brother Mitchell
Wilson V. Each of these beloved figures held a special place in her heart, and their shared memories forever contribute to the tapestry of her life.

The celebration of Elizabeth's life will be honored with a funeral service at Zion Baptist Church in Welcome, MD, on December 7, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a burial at Zion Baptist Church in Kinsale, VA, at 12:30 PM. Her spirit, like the music she adored, will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved her.
