John Francis Dorsey, affectionately known as "Francis" or "Tick" a cherished resident of Lexington Park, Maryland, passed away on September 15, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on January 3, 1956, in Maryland, John lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. John made his sacraments of baptism and holy communion, and confirmation at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morganza Maryland.
John dedicated his professional life to the St. Mary's Public School System and Soloman's annex, where he worked as a custodian. His bubbly personality and warm demeanor made him beloved among students and staff alike. Colleagues appreciated his easy-going nature and ability to create a positive environment, making every interaction a joy.
In addition to his professional endeavors, John proudly served in the United States Army Reserves as a stock clerk. His military service reflected his dedication and discipline, qualities that also shone through in his everyday life.
John was a man of many passions. He found immense joy in being surrounded by his family and friends. He was an avid softball player, contributing his skills to teams such as The Touch of Class and the Budweiser softball team. John’s loyalty to the Washington Redskins was unwavering; he was a diehard fan who never missed a chance to cheer for his team. His weekends were often spent driving his loved ones around town for errands, demonstrating a selfless spirit that was characteristic of him, regardless of what his wife, Barbara Jean Dorsey, had to say about it.
In addition to sports, John enjoyed playing cards, particularly Poker, Tonk, and Pitch. He could often be found on sunny days engaging in friendly competitions, always eager to share moments of happiness and camaraderie.
John leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara Jean Dorsey, whom he was married to for 24 years but together for 45 total years his son, John F. Dorsey Jr., and his grandson, John F. Tuesday, October 08, 2024, at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. Located at 100 Village Street Waldorf, MD 20602. Visitation will start at 11:00 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 12 Noon.

Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. with funeral mass to start at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery. Located at 11301 Robert S. Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
Please have flowers sent directly to the church no later than 10:00 AM on the day of service.
